How often do we hear this question and the answer is YES! Absolutely!

When you consider starting a Home Business online - meaning getting into the field of Ecommerce where buyers and sellers meet - you basically have three options:

1. Sell your own product/s and/or service/s

2. Sell other peoples’ product/s and/or services

You don’t even have to write your own sales page or other tools to promote this product.  The owner of the product has to give you those types of tools to sell his/her product.  You don’t have to worry about delivering the product or even collecting the money for the sale.  Must of the time you receive a webpage or a sales page and all you have to do is bring potential customers to the sales page so they can decide to buy the product or not. Now many people who are trying to be affiliates have the wrong idea, they think they have to sell the product, but you can’t sell what you don’t own and an affiliate doesn’t own the products.

What the affiliate must do is market the product.  As everyone marketing the product has the same sales page, it might be a good idea to change a graphic or change the color of the page and maybe twick the copy if you didn’t think it is just what you want, this way your site would be just different enough that people might not even think it is an affiliate product.

When you are promoting an affiliate program do people click on your affiliate link or do you have an opt-in page, or squeeze page that they go to first?   If you are only using your affiliate link you are losing money or as the expression goes, “leaving money on the table”.  If you don’t get the persons name and email address, than all you will get is the commisssion on a one time sale.  If you get the opt-in information before they buy the product or program, than you can send them other emails and get to know then and maybe sell them something else.  This way you will be able to build your downline and help the customer today and in the future.

If you sell more than one affiliate program, then you should keep the opt-in list seperate so you know who was interested in what type of program or product.  This way you can send them things that would interest them and not just something general.  If you have several auto-responders than you can send different types of newsletters or surveys and really find out what they want.

So my advise is to always advertise on your own website and have the people sign in to an opt-in page before they get to the affiliates salesletter and pay button.
