DubLi closes its Auction Marketplace
Today's Newsletter from DubLi announces the end of Free Auctions listings for DubLi users:
"Marketplace
The marketplace will be closed as of July 10th, 2008.
This is the result of the newest legislation that mandates that online portals are liable for the products offered on their platforms. As it is not possible for us to control marketing fraud, we have been forced to take this action.

We will keep track of this matter; this decision can be reversed if the situation improves at a later date.
Based on past experience, DubLi has decided to work together only with professional partners - this was made a top priority. In DubLi Auction, for example, DubLi will no longer be dependent on outside suppliers - DubLi itself will deliver all products.
As a result of the marketplace closure, we will also limit the shop solutions on offer. As of July 10th, only the Professional Shop System will be available to customers."
Unclear where DubLi is going
It is hard to believe, that DubLi is closing its Marketplace just for the reason of a pending eBay lawsuit in france and its hard to believe, that DubLi would take such a decision on such a short notice.
We have observed that the Marketplace has not really attracted the expected crowds and since DubLi focused more on SmartWin, the Marketplace became a desert.
We also observed the shops disappearing and the drop in product offers on the DubLi Platform from a few hundred thousand to a few thousand only.
Customer shops have been closed without prior notice nor back-ups.
Now the Marketplace closes down and a bunch of new products are launched. We will rview them later.
DubLi is also preparing a Grand Opening in the USA for August/September. According to recently published articles in the USA (we have been reporting on the issue), an American representative for DubLi has been appointed and the communication strategy is targeting the market as if there had never been DubLi in the USA.
The move to the USA has still not been announced officially to the existing DubLi Business Associates. (Check a press release)
Existing DubLi Business Associates in the USA have not been consulted nor involved in that move, namely not any of the about 100 business associates in the YORGOO DubLi Team.
The DubLi Network Leader, Carlos Oestby, Vice President of DubLi Network LLC, has quietly disappeared from the sceene, without any notice either.
DubLi Shareholders (Business Associates who bought shares) have not received any news about the company since they purchased shares a year ago nor any end of the year company information, such as accounts or an annual report or any factual report about the company development, it's plans, visons and status quo.
DubLi is obviously not willing to adopt a transparent communication policy and I am not really sure that this is a good sign.
DubLi is playing with the trust of those who have joined the original vision of DubLi, of those who have trusted Carlos Oestby and Michael Hanson, of those who were excited by the idea of a global trading platform with free auction listing, by those who have trusted the plans that DubLi was to go public; the latter issue is also a matter of concern, since no announcement has been made since the one where it was lined out that DubLi would go to the London Stock Exchange (by now I rather believe it's the AIM) by spring 2008….we are in summer.
What is wrong with DubLi?
For sure DubLi is in a restructuration phase and restructuration needs time. But what restructuration needs most is the trust and confidence from those who believe in the company and its management, the investors, shareholders, business associates and customers… unless DubLi intends to restart from scratch once more and evict those who have spent thousands of Euros on a dream that never may come true.
